Want to learn scuba diving?
Want to build on your skills, or just find some people to dive with?
The ESOC Scuba Diving Club might be just the thing. We’re a friendly group who simply enjoy being in and under the water.
The club has been around for over 50 years and is run entirely by volunteers. Members look after everything from administration and equipment to training sessions and organising dive trips.
BSAC
We’re a branch of the British Sub-Aqua Club (BSAC), based in the UK and recognised worldwide.
Welcoming PADI, CMAS, SSI and other agencies
Whether you’re completely new to diving or already qualified, you’re very welcome. It doesn’t matter if you trained with PADI, CMAS, SSI or another agency. We accept most certifications and you can continue your training with us if you’d like to progress further.
Where we meet
We meet on Tuesday evenings for swimming and scuba training at the pool in Weiterstadt.
What you get as a member
Being part of the club comes with a few useful perks:
- Access to the pool on club nights for swimming, training or trying out equipment
- A monthly “Scuba” magazine subscription
- Use of club diving equipment
- Free compressed air from the club compressor
- The chance to learn from more experienced members
A bit of history
The club started back in 1968, when two French enthusiasts had the slightly unusual idea of setting up a diving club in the middle of Germany, quite a distance from the sea. The aim was simply to bring together people who enjoyed diving, and over time it naturally developed into a training club as well.
Over the years, the club has been affiliated with different organisations, including the German DUC and the French FFESSM, before becoming a branch of BSAC and running BSAC training courses.
In 2010, the club was renamed from “ESOC Skin Diving Club” to “ESOC Scuba Diving Club“, a name that better reflects what we’re all about: scuba diving.
