Scuba diving

Bonaire offers scuba diving 24/7, 365 days a year and in a pristine underwater environment with access to many locations for shore and boat diving, it is an award winning diving destination that accommodates every skill level, from beginner to advanced diver. There are 63 official dive sites on Bonaire and
26 more on Klein Bonaire, of which 54 are shore dive sites. Bonaire is an underwater paradise that awaits you, with more than 350 fish species and 57 species of soft and stony coral.

Dive the way you like

The conditions for independent diving in Bonaire are very favourable. Access to the sea from the shore all around the island, boat dives, abundant stations to fill up gas cylinders, Nitrox, dive centres, good weather conditions, warm and constant water temperature of around 28 degrees Celsius, flora and fauna in a protected nature reserve. There is room for qualification dives combined with fun dives.

Buddy Diving

This dive trip is available to all members of the Dive Club, qualified divers and their family. Divers will dive in buddy pairs, so applying for this trip as buddy pair is highly recommended. Club Ocean Divers will dive with at least a Sports Diver.

Easter Holidays

This year Easter Holidays falls at the end of April, and is still in the high season. A two week period from the 12th of April till the 26th of April, still offers changes to book proper accommodations and flights, based on personal preferences. Closing up the cruise season, a few cruises will still moor, but there is no fear of overcrowding. Completely unrestricted in time and place there is always a free diving spot to find.

Kralendijk

Bonaire houses plenty of dive sites that are accessible from shore or boat. The main area to stay is Kralendijk, close to the international airport. It has good connections with the rest of the island, and port facilities close to the neighbouring island “Little Bonaire”. There are different dive centres connected with resorts and hotels, but currently the one that offers most of the services is “Buddy Dive Centre”. They will charge US$40 for a dive from shore including tank and weights.

Accommodation

There is a vast offer of different kind of lodgings with all sorts of amenities, various booking sites can help you to find the proper lettings. Keep in mind prices are in US$, local tourist tax is around US$ 5 /day
/person and attention for apartment reserved for permanent housing. Example for 7 nights 2P apartment at Beaches Ocean View, close to Bachelor’s Beach, opposite a dive club, pick up at airport, pool, AC, and free WiFi, at US$731,50.

Flights

The Royal Dutch Airline, KLM, flies once a day directly to Flamingo International Airport (BON) from Schiphol Amsterdam. Starting your dive holiday from Frankfurt with KLM is recommended as it will offer
seamlessly transfers of passenger and luggage at Schiphol. Avoid tight transfer times in case of possible flight delays. Economy prices for a round trip from FRA-AMS-BON, varies from EUR 800,- to EUR 900,- pp.

Anything else?

Cylinders have INT connections only, an INT/DIN adapter is required to use club stages. Nitrox divers should bring an oxygen analyser. Diving with an SMB and/or DSMB in certain area’s can be very wise. To
reach remote dive sites, a car can be rented for prices varying around US$ 40,- / day with a minimal of 3 days in high season. Nautical map and a dive locations map is available for planning. Each diver needs to purchase a US$ 25,- nature reserve tag to dive around Bonaire.
